January 2017

A new year always brings new and exciting changes in HMIS Land and 2017 is no exception. We said "Good-Bye" to our Data Analyst Maureen Burns as she has moved all the way down the hall to join the CoC team, we are really going to miss her, but know that she is going to do AMAZING things on "The Other Side". There wasn't a whole lot of time to mourn our loss though as we have been busy preparing to begin limited Consumer Data Sharing, and creating the new Consumer Release of Information which will replace the posted Privacy Notice. A copy of the new CRHMIS Consumer Release form will be available on our website as well as the 2017 CRHMIS Policies and Procedures manual by the end of the week.

We are also busy creating a recorded HMIS New User Training and Quiz that new HMIS users can complete on their own prior to receiving a log in, details on this will be released shortly, so stay tuned!

  Speaking of trainings......
Thank you so much to everyone who has completed and returned both the User Review Quiz and the 2017 User Agreement. If you have not done so yet you can find both items here Please complete and return both to your Customer Service Rep (Sue or Kelli). Agency and Data Sharing Agreements were mailed out on January 13th to all of our participating agencies, please complete these and return to CARES Inc, no later that February 1st.

As always, please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We love hearing from our users!

Questions and Answers with
Kelli Clark - Customer Service Representative

1. Where are you from?
   Scotia NY
2. Do you have any pets?
Yes, a dog (My Bella) and 2 cats (Molly and Milo)
3. What is your favorite movie?
Rock of Ages. A musical comedy about 80's Hair Bands??? YES PLEASE!
4. What book are you currently reading?
Does the Waiting List section of AWARDS Online Help count?
5. What is the best way to spend a Sunday?
I usually spend my Sundays at either Baseball games or Cheer competitions depending on the season, but I imagine the BEST way to spend a Sunday would be lounging around in sweat pants watching a musical movie marathon.
6. Do you have a favorite band/singer?
Do I???? New Kids on the Block... I may or may not still use my NKOTB towel to dry my hair, and my NKOTB pillow case might still be on my pillow always with Donny and Joey facing up.
7. What is your favorite childhood memory?
My very first concert was shockingly New Kids on the Block, when they came to Saratoga Raceway. My older brother drove my Mom, Grandma, Cousin, sister, and myself up there. He refused to play any NKOTB in the van, so instead played Samantha Fox's new tape, can you say inappropriate? Listening to my Gram sing along was AMAZING!
8. Did you do anything exciting over the summer?
You bet I did. I went on a girls weekend to New Jersey to see the I Love the 90's Tour with some of my friends.
9. If you could meet anyone (past or present) and ask them only one question, who would that person be and what question would you ask?
Kenny Rogers! I would ask him if I could touch his hair. It just looks like it would be so incredibly soft
10. Coffee or Tea?
COFFEE!!!!!!!! I mean, have you ever seen my coffee mug?

Did you know that if you have a new consumer in your program that you can clone their admission record within the AWARDS HMIS Database? It's really as easy as1,2,3.
1. Enter the consumer's first name, last name, and social security number in the fields on the Intake/Admission search page.
2. Click Continue
3. Click "Create New Application"
If the consumer has ever had an enrollment with in a program that uses the CRHMIS AWARDS database their admission information MINUS Health Insurance and Special Needs will prepopulate on your programs admission form.
It's a 50/50 shot, so why not give it a go and save some data entry time!
Foster Kitten Update
Milo is still doing amazing! When he is not busy working in the CRHMIS AWARDS Database you can find him hanging out in Kelli's bathroom sink.
Our office has been kitten-less since Holly was adopted on Christmas. Her new name is Noel and her Fur-Ever family loves her so much.
